today while building new site uber upload script drilled my mind with ERROR: Failed to load config file uu_default_config.pm

i tried everything - i set permissions,paths correctly but no clue …. after 1 hr of working and checking each config file step by step i found out that i missed ‘ yes cama in common config file …oh !

As i posted earlier , i am starting process of learning open Sun Solaris. but where to start and how to start ? here are inital steps  first visit site http://opensolaris.org Just check all the section.

1.Join openSolaris group/mailinglist -   bosug . This is place where you will very good heal from user community.

i want to convert my phpbb2 based forum to phpbb3. My forums is with 50 thousand user base. i was applied few MODS inlcuding famous attachment mode. It will allow your forum members to upload files to posts.

ok as per phpbb.com doc - following are the steps we need to perform.

1.install fresh phpbb3 in another location ( another folder other than where ever your old board installation there

2.start install process by calling http://newphpbb3folder/install/ it performs installation it will give you 2 options 1. convert any exisating board 2. go live with new install

3.need to select 1 option and it will ask your source board path and db details. great news is it never touch / modify you old forum files/database and it just copies requires files and tables.

4.conversion is cpu intensive way. some what it fails on shared hosting account where restrictions on php.

hostgator.com worked for and it allows me to use my own php.ini. Folowing you can see my php.ini which worked for conversion.

hostgator.com is compatible with phpbb3. After conversion phpbb3 is automatically converted my attchment mod to phpbb3. fantastic !!! now my phpbb site is up working fine.

while moving from my german host to hostgator i faced some problems. i have no personal internet due to ISP issue and i can;t do all from key logger/malware filled internet / cybercafes.
so only way is my office netowrk which is only allows firefox to access internet. what do ? i need ftp client to transfer files. and both hosts using different controlpanels. so no ftp cleints and files are 10k + in 10 folders each with 10+k + files. hummm.. i thought that evey desktop application should be online version so i am searched for web based ftp client which support site to site transfers with $0 … At last i got it …. nttp://net2ftp.com wonderful free script .

You can copy files from one ftp server to other server online - no plugins need to install it is php based application. so i downloaded and installed in my site… install is nothing but single clik.

ok accessed first time using browser - excellent user interface and ton of feature. you can download entire files in .zip , you can upload files using java or flash uploader.
many many ….. really all these features are $0 costs to you thanks to net2ftp.

at last i completed transfer files from german host to hostgator.com …. so earlier i hosted database on one host,files on one host so now all hostgator.com and $$ saved.

UNIX vendor now days becomming so “open” - open sourced operating sytem, open sourced Java, open sourced SPARC … i also want to check ,take advantage and improve my knowledge. so you may see some solaris stuff in my timewasteblog soon…
