What is unlocked 3G data card or 3g modem ?

3G data card or 3G modem which you can use with any 3G mobile network is called unlocked data card.

For example, if you subscribed for BSNL 3G services, BSNL will give you 3G modem which cost you 3,500/- ( example). After some time you want to drop BSNL 3G and subscribe Airtel 3G. Again you need to pay modem fee of 3,500/ as BSNL data card is locked to BSNLnetworkand won’t work with Airtel.

In case if you have unlocked 3G data card, just purchase Airtel 3G sim at 60/- and use same device.
