If you want to join rapidshare as paid or PREMIUM memeber ..wait for a while and see following notes.
rapidshare sucks in following ways. If you have files, which are downloading frequently then you can join but if you want use it as online file storage with less rate of downloads then its huge money loss…
1.storage limit of 20 GB (20.000.000.000 bytes) for premium accounts
2.If you exceed this amount for longer than 48 hours, your account will automatically be converted to a Storage XXL account. Files being not downloaded longer than 90 days will then automatically be deleted.
3.suppose you uploaded your music or what ever files to rapidshare and it took more than 20 GB …one fine day you will see data of Nothing because once your account cross 20 GB – rapidshare will delete files which are not downloaded from past 90Days,even you are a paid member
4.*** Service is very very costly compare to above points.
$10 for 20GB that too no web services only file storage … ?
go for hostgator.com and signup for $7 plan and install free uber upload script and bing !! you have your won rapidshare upload server … that too with A-z web services ….
so think about it. its waste of money ….
UPDATE: yesterday I checked after many years ( yes !years I never used rapidshare) hoping for service improvements.
1.I saw “unlimited” storage for paid members. Felt very happy.. BUT waIT ! in few mins bOOm – I saw their TOS
RapidShare shall – for the duration of his/her premium membership – provide each user with web space in which the user can save his/her own files. Automatic file deletions according to section III (1) sentence 3 do not take place for premium users for as long as the data saved for a user does not exceed the total amount of 25 gigabytes. Furthermore, RapidShare offers its premium users the opportunity of downloading without a waiting period and at a maximum speed a data volume of 5 gigabytes (Download-Traffic) on a calendar day basis. RapidShare will increase each premium users Download-Traffic by 5 gigabytes per calendar day, regardless of a users consumption of Download-Traffic. The total amount of Download-Traffic cannot exceed 25 gigabytes per calendar day
So 25 GB space only you can use even if you are a paid member. $10+ for 25 Gb and 25 GB bandwidth. Now you tell me is it good deal ?
